Marae visit
I got dropped off at Te Poho o Rawiri Marae early on Thursday. Nui dropped their bags by the front gate and waited on the tennis courts till everyone came.
We got welcomed onto the marae with a powhiri. The chief welcomed us and the ladies told us stories about its history. At the end we hongied them, then we had some kai and some free time to play.
We broke into groups and did some rotations on different maori games. Some of the games were stick games, rope tricks, climbing Titirangi and ancient games they used for hunting.
We made our beds and stayed the night. Before we went to sleep we did kapa hapa practise and watch some performances. When it was finished we went back to the wharenui to go to bed. My back had more lumps than the mattress hahahah!
At 6am I had to lie in my bed and wait for everyone else to wake up. We got changed and had a play before breakfast. We did more rotations when Wai turned up. It was time to go home at 2pm.
